Gentler Stories: Balancing 'Want' and 'Can'

The Gentler Stories team, multi-time winners of Apple’s App Awards (including Apple Design Award Winner and Apple Watch App of the Year), has created a unique duo of apps that covers the needs of every athlete: from beginners to pros. These are two different perspectives on the same HealthKit data.

Gentler Streak: Empathy in Every Pixel",

A tracker featuring a charming heart character named Yourhart (a play on 'your heart'), who won’t 'shout' at you for a missed workout. Yes, this app is about sustainable habits and psychological comfort for those who train for health, tone, and vibes, rather than just numbers in a table.

Philosophy: Human-centric design and gentle nudges. The app listens to how you feel and might straight up tell you: 'Better just take a break today.'

Main feature: The 'Activity Path' (green corridor). The goal is to stay inside it to avoid burnout or stagnation.

The Outsiders: The Engineering of Progress

Now, this is the heavy artillery for those who treat sports as a serious side project. Runners, triathletes, and endurance junkies will find everything here that’s missing from standard software.

It’s more suited for 'digital' athletes who need charts, planning, and a clear answer to: 'How hard can I push it today?'

Training Readiness is my favorite metric. It analyzes sleep, load, and heart rate variability (HRV). One glance at your Apple Watch, and you know if you're going for a personal record or a recovery stroll.

As for analytics, it’s a real playground - from interactive graphs to geeky stuff like Aerobic Decoupling and Variability Index. Those in the know will appreciate how everything is laid out without unnecessary slogans.

The Perfect Tandem

At first glance, it might seem like these apps are competing, but in reality, they create a powerful ecosystem, complementing each other. I call it 'two-layer fitness': Gentler Streak protects your psychological resources and the joy of movement, making sure it doesn't turn into a chore. Meanwhile, The Outsiders' job is to turn that movement into clear athletic results, helping you maximize progress without the risk of overtraining. The gold standard for working with HealthKit in 2026.

Bonus

The developer sent over a few promo codes for a free annual subscription to Gentler Streak. It's first-come, first-served:

1 Redeem promo code

2 Redeem promo code

3 Redeem promo code

4 Redeem promo code

5 Redeem promo code

It would be awesome (I’m asking nicely) if you could leave a review in the store. Feel free to mention you’re from Lucky Hipsta, but that's up to you.

*A quick note: The subscription will automatically renew at full annual price after a year if not cancelled before that.",

P.S. My Apple Watch suddenly bricked. It just turned off and that’s it. Now I feel lost during workouts. It’s like losing a partner who was always there to back you up.

It’s strange, but moments like these make you realize the value of good software. Oh well, I’ll start saving up for a new one and look forward to returning to training with that 'made by humans for humans' approach that you can feel in every pixel here. Thanks.
